Center City
Center City lies at the heart of Philadelphia and is home to听,听迟丑别听,听丑颈蝉迟辞谤颈肠听Chinatown,听and the iconic听鈥淩ocky steps鈥� of the.听听offers a bite of Philadelphia鈥檚 eclectic cuisine, including some classic city food staples such as cheesesteaks and soft pretzels. With Center City only a train ride away, students often head downtown throughout the semester to engage with the city鈥檚听.
Parks
The University is within 25 miles of over 16,000 acres of county and state parks. Students who like to bike, run, hike, fish, kayak, or just read in a hammock will find plenty of local parks to get some sunshine.听,听, and听听are all large enough to offer a day鈥檚 worth of fun but are also close enough to campus鈥�20 minutes away or less鈥攖hat students go just to spend some downtime between classes.
Beaches
With the closest beach only an hour away, students love to get together with some friends for a beach day. Whether it鈥檚 shopping on the boardwalk or hitting the waves,听Belmar听beach and听Ocean City, NJ, have a lot to offer students who want a day of sunbathing and and relaxation.
Cities
In addition to students exploring the Big Apple independently, Student Life offers an annual听New York City听trip to visit the city with a guide. Students also journey down to听Washington DC听with some friends for a tour of our nation鈥檚 capital. Both of these major metropolitan areas are known for art, culture, history, and special events throughout the year.
Coffee Shops
The听听is considered a Cairn student staple because of its self-served coffee, hearty breakfast and lunch options, and cozy atmosphere. Students also love the Cairn alum-owned听听in Bristol Borough for their house-roasted coffee,听听in Newtown for the perfect atmosphere for studying, and听听in Bensalem for its proximity to campus.听听in nearby Yardley is also a popular spot to get a big, blue mug of a cinnamon-toast crunch latte or other unique flavors. The options for good coffee are plenty around Cairn.
Food
When looking for a good meal outside of the cafeteria, students always turn to听Chick-fil-A听first. Two Chick-fil-A locations within 15 minutes of campus offer the cherished 鈥淐airn special鈥� to students on select days throughout the week. Other popular locations include听Brother鈥檚 Pizza听and听Jay鈥檚 Steak and Hoagie Joint,听which both offer student discounts. Students also drive into Newtown for a slice of听Jules Thin Crust听or听an ice cream cone at听Zebra-Striped Whale.
